The Court granted Plaintiff Shirleyann Hughes’ motion to remand the case to state court, finding that Defendant USAA Casualty Insurance Company failed to establish the amount in controversy exceeded $75,000 for federal jurisdiction. The Court cited Burns v. Windsor Ins. Co., 31 F.3d 1092 (11th Cir. 1994) and City of Vestavia Hills v. Gen. Fid. Ins. Co., 676 F.3d 1310 (11th Cir. 2012) for the principles that removal statutes are strictly construed and all doubts about jurisdiction should be resolved in favor of remand.
